सरकार ने सोमवार को राज्यसभा में एक विधेयक पेश किया जिसमें जम्मू कश्मीर राज्य का विभाजन दो केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के रूप में करने का प्रस्ताव किया गया है. गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने राज्यसभा में एक संकल्प पेश किया जिसमें कहा गया है कि संविधान के अनुच्छेद 370 के सभी खंड जम्मू कश्मीर में लागू नहीं होंगे. शाह ने राज्यसभा में जम्मू एवं कश्मीर राज्य पुनर्गठन विधेयक 2019 पेश किया. गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने लद्दाख के लिये केंद्र शासित प्रदेश के गठन की घोषणा की जहां चंडीगढ़ की तरह से विधानसभा नहीं होगी. शाह ने राज्यसभा में घोषणा की कि कश्मीर और जम्मू डिवीजन विधान के साथ एक अलग केंद्र शासित प्रदेश होगा जहां दिल्ली और पुडुचेरी की तरह विधानसभा होगी. गृह मंत्री ने कहा, ‘राष्ट्रपति के अनुमोदन के बाद अनुच्छेद 370 के सभी खंड लागू नहीं होंगे.'
