नियम के अनुसार बल्लेबाज के आउट होने के बाद दूसरे बल्लेबाज को क्रीज के अंदर 3 मिनट के अंदर पहुंचना होता है लेकिन मैथ्यूज मैदान पर तो पहुंच गए थे लेकिन क्रीज तक समय रहते नहीं पहुंचे, श्रीलंकाई बल्लेबाज ने बीच मैदान पर ही रूककर दूसरे हेलमेट की मांग करने लगे थे जिससे समय ज्यादा लग गया. ऐसे में बांग्लादेशी कप्तान ने टाइम आउट की अपील की जिसे अंपायर ने स्वीकार कर लिया. बता दें कि मैथ्यूज इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट में टाइम आउट के तौर पर आउट होने वाले दुनिया के पहले बल्लेबाज भी बन गए हैं.
