पश्चिम बंगाल में नये नागरिकता कानून पर चल रहे विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बीच पीएम मोदी दो दिवसीय यात्रा पर कोलकाता में रहेंगे. राज्य प्रशासन ने उनकी यात्रा के दौरान किसी भी अप्रिय घटना को रोकने के लिए सुरक्षा के पुख्ता इंतजाम किए हैं. पीएम मोदी एयरपोर्ट से बीबीडी बाग इलाके के ऐतिहासिक करेंसी बिल्डिंग जाएंगे, जहां वह एक कार्यक्रम का उद्धाटन करेंगे. इसके बाद वह कोलकाता पोर्ट ट्रस्ट की 150वीं वर्षगांठ के मौके पर आयोजित समारोह में शामिल होकर, धरोहर इमारतों को राष्ट्र को समर्पित करेंगे. आज और कल पीएम मोदी कोलकाता पोर्ट ट्रस्ट के कार्यक्रम में हिस्सा लेंगे. वह कोलकाता पोर्ट ट्रस्ट के मौजूदा और रिटायर्ड कर्मचारियों के पेंशन फंड मे कमी को पूरा करने के लिए अंतिम निपटारे के तहत 501 करोड़ रूपये का चेक भी भेंट करेंगे. पीएम मोदी रविवार दोपहर को दिल्ली विदा हो जाएंगे.
