गौरतलब है कि मुंबई में परेल-एलफिंस्टन रेलवे स्टेशन के पास बने पुल पर ज्यादा भीड़ की वजह से मची भगदड़ में 22 लोगों की मौत हो गई. यह घटना शुक्रवार सुबह 10 बजकर 45 मिनट के करीब हुए यह हादसा हुआ. आशंका जताई जा रही है कि मृतकों की संख्या और अधिक हो सकती है. इस पुल को लेकर कई लोगों ने पहले भी शिकायत की थी और इसके जर्जर होने के शिकायत कर चुके थे.

हादसे से गुस्साए यात्रियों और आस पास के लोगों ने कहा कि यह पुल काफी पुराना है और यह काफी संकरा है. यह इतना मजबूत नहीं था कि काफी सारे लोगों को एक साथ संभाल सके. एक स्थानीय आदमी ने कहा कि हादसा कभी भी हो सकता था, इसकी आशंका पहले से थी. लोगों का कहना है कि और पुल बनाए जाने के लिए कई बार मांग की जा चुकी थी.
