And with that, we wrap up an absolute nail-biter that went down to the wire, not once, but twice! The season’s first Super Over delivered high drama, with the Delhi Capitals bouncing back to winning ways, while the Rajasthan Royals’ woes deepened as they slumped to their third consecutive defeat. Next up in the Indian Premier League, the action shifts to Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where Mumbai Indians host the Sunrisers Hyderabad in match number 33, on the 17th of April (Thursday). The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but don’t forget to tune in early for all the pre-match buildup. Until then, it's goodbye and see you soon for another thrilling encounter.
Mitchell Starc is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his sensational final over, followed by a superb showing in the Super Over. He collects the award and is up for a chat. He is all smiles and on the final over, he shares he just backed his strengths and ran with a clear plan in his mind. Also admits a bit of luck goes along with these things. Adds execution is all that matters. On being asked whether he thought of changing his plans on bowling bouncers, he jokingly says that everyone knows what he is going to do. Also opines that you can play that over ten more times and do ten different things, and it can go different ways. On the Super Over bowling, he says he was surprised to see two left-handers being sent to bat, especially with the ball tailing back in. Also says he got away a little bit even after bowling a No Ball. On the team atmosphere, he mentions it is a good mix of youth and experience. Also appreciates the way Axar Patel has led the side. Adds they also have Faf du Plessis in the ranks, and then KL Rahul and Stubbs who have also been around for a while. Mentions about Kuldeep Yadav being fantastic with the ball. Concludes by saying it has been a great group to be a part of and expects the team to put on more dominant performances, by saying wins like these will certainly help them.
Axar Patel, the skipper of Delhi Capitals, says after the kind of start they got, they should've pushed harder in the middle overs, but also mentions that the pitch was sticking a bit and wasn't the easiest one for any new batter. Says they had a chat in the break and focused on keeping things tight and executing the plans, and not heavily relying on the surface to do everything. Talks about how he wanted to contribute to the team and wanted to get back into his best form after that finger injury. Lauds the way Mitchell Starc bowled in such high high-pressure situation and says his temperament is outstanding.
It's time for the Presentation Ceremony ...
Tristan Stubbs of the Delhi Capitals is in for a chat now. He admits that it felt horrible when he dropped the catch in the 19th over. Says KL Rahul told him to keep calm. On the plan in the Super Over, he says that Sandeep was going for the slower bouncers, so he committed to the pull shot. On his form with the bat, he says it is going well so far, and he just wants to keep going with it. Expresses his delight to bounce back as a team in the end, and hopes that they carry on the momentum ahead.
Sanju Samson, the skipper of Rajasthan Royals admits that things seemed okay during the match, but they'll need to analyze where they fell short later. He praises their bowling performance and the energy maintained by the fielders throughout. He specifically acknowledges Mitchell Starc's impact, crediting the Australian's final over as the decisive factor in Delhi Capitals' victory. Samson then explains that their strategy was to be aggressive against Starc, attempting to hit him as hard as possible. Feels that with the way they started, it felt like a chaseable total. Again appreciates Starc by calling him as one of the best bowlers around the world. On Sandeep Sharma, he mentions that Sandeep has been bowling some really tough overs for the team, over the years and considers himself fortunate as a skipper to have someone like Sandeep in the team. Admits that a win could have possibly created some positivity in the dressing room.
Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start, thanks to an aggressive knock from Abishek Porel at the top. However, the early loss of two quick wickets halted their momentum. KL Rahul and Porel then rebuilt the innings with a composed 63-run stand, bringing DC back on track. Unfortunately for them, both batters fell in quick succession, once again shifting the pressure back. Axar Patel stepped up with a vital cameo, injecting life back into the innings, and Tristan Stubbs provided the perfect finish, powering DC to a competitive total of 188. For Rajasthan Royals, it was a tough day in the field, with a few costly dropped catches and lapses. Despite the struggles, Jofra Archer stood out with the ball, picking up two key wickets while Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga chipped in with one each.
Rajasthan Royals sent out Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer for the Super Over, and despite a promising start, things quickly unravelled. Two run-outs derailed their momentum, and they couldn’t even face the full six balls from Starc. In response, DC entrusted KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs to finish the job. Chasing 12, they calmly took on Sandeep Sharma and wrapped up the chase with two balls to spare, sealing a dramatic win in style.
Nitish Rana then stepped in and anchored the chase to perfection. After Jaiswal’s dismissal, he was joined by Dhruv Jurel, and the pair kept the scoreboard ticking with maturity and composure. Rana brought up his own fifty and ensured RR were at a touching distance before being scalped by Starc. But what followed was sheer brilliance. Starc delivered a stunning final over, defending 9 runs with ice in his veins and dragging the contest into a thrilling Super Over.
Chasing a challenging target of 189, the Royals needed a solid foundation, and after a cautious first over from Mitchell Starc, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal unleashed a flurry of clean, powerful strokes to build momentum. Unfortunately, Samson, who was looking in sublime touch, had to walk off due to a side strain. But Jaiswal carried on in style, notching up a confident half-century even as Riyan Parag departed at the other end.
What began as a picture‑perfect chase for the Rajasthan Royals has instead spiralled into a nightmare, as they’ve now tacked on a third straight defeat to their mounting woes. Still, there were plenty of positives to draw from a game they came agonizingly close to pulling off.
Delhi Capitals have produced the stuff of legends, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in a scorching contest that had every fan’s heart pounding! Mitchell Starc tore through the opposition with raw pace and precision, first unleashing a blistering final over in regulation play, then summoning every ounce of fire in the Super Over. Yet it was the ice-cool composure of KL Rahul and the fearless flair of Tristan Stubbs that ultimately steered the Capitals back onto the winning track. What a team, what a game!

FOUR! KLASS! Short and another predictable slower one from Sandeep, over the top of middle. KL Rahul gives himself some room and stays leg side, lofts it over backward point for a boundary. Calm mind of Rahul under extreme pressure.

BUZZERS! A decent throw to the keeper would have sent KL Rahul back to the dugout! A slower bumper, into the pitch, outside off, KL Rahul drags his attempted pull shot to deep mid-wicket and calls for the second right away. The throw comes in wayward at the striker's end, and Jurel has to leap to collect the ball, which allows KL Rahul enough time to return for the second run.
