At the peak of their powers - India walked into this semifinal as the clear favourites, and they backed that tag up sincerely. They have not missed a single Women's Asia Cup finale and will now wait for the second finalist. It will be decided through the second semifinal, which will be played between defending champions Sri Lanka Women and Pakistan Women on Friday, 11th September. The first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 2.30 pm GMT (8 pm IST), but our buildup will begin well in advance. CIAO!
The victorious Indian captain - Harmanpreet Kaur says that she's happy with how things are going. Adds that there was value in giving the ball a rip in the second innings as well and the bowlers used the pitch well. Further, Harman says that the small partnerships worked really well and these small things matter a lot in the bigger picture, lauding the likes of Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Shafali Verma receives the award for her fearless batting. She scored a match-winning 64 (40), which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. On battling the conditions during her knock, Shafali Verma admits the humidity got to her out there, to the point where breathing itself became a challenge at times. She says the focus was on staying composed, controlling her breathing, and leaning on grounded strokes as she worked to build her innings. On being asked about the aggression in the Powerplay, she says it was very much by design, pointing out that scoring is simply easier in those first six overs. She sees cashing in during that phase, finding the fours and sixes, as very much her role in the side.
The captain of Bangladesh Women - Nigar Sultana starts by saying that they didn't bowl to the best of their abilities today and they also had lapses in the field. Feels that it wasn't pressure that got to them but rather just a bad day. Sultana further higlights the fact that they bowled well and created chances, which they didn't take and they didn't have a good Powerplay with the bat. She ends by saying that they are doing well in limited overs cricket, but want to play a complete game.
... Time for the post-match Presentation ...
Shafali, the fearless - The scorecard flattered India more than the performance deserved. Shafali Verma's 64 off 40 balls anchored the total, surviving three dropped catches and a run-out chance gone begging, an innings gifted almost as much as it was earned. Mandhana fell cheap, and neither Harmanpreet Kaur nor Pratika Rawal ever found fluency, leaving it to Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh down the order to rescue things from looking distinctly ordinary. Bangladesh's seamers, Marufa Akter and Sultana Khatun, leaked runs, but the spinners kept things tight enough to leave 149 within reach despite the imperfections.
Hunted in a pack - India will be delighted with how they bowled, and especially with how the spin quartet stepped up when it mattered. Sree Charani struck first again, finishing with excellent figures of 1/14 that included a wicket maiden, while Deepti Sharma stayed at her consistent best with a three-wicket haul. Prema Rawat impressed too, and between the four of them, the spinners kept their foot on Bangladesh's throat throughout, never letting them settle or breathe freely. One area India will need to introspect on is their ground fielding, with several straightforward chances going down that they'd ordinarily expect to hold. It was that kind of evening where catches went begging on both sides, but on balance, India were just that little bit better.
Heartbreak for Tigresses - Nothing went right in the chase for Bangladesh. Dilara Akter and Juairiya Ferdous gave them a positive start up top, but the fragile batting behind them couldn't absorb the pressure. Nigar Sultana was the one they leaned on to steady things, but her wicket fell at the worst possible moment, and from there it was one dismissal after another as the side simply caved under the weight of the occasion. Shorna Akter kept fighting alone till the end, but she was always fighting a battle that was already long lost.
5.41 pm GMT (11.11 pm IST) - This is dominance in its purest form, and once again India Women remind everyone why they are considered Asia's cricketing gold standard. The tradition continues unbroken, as they stroll into their 10th straight Women's Asia Cup final. Not only does the unbeaten run stay intact, but they have steamrolled every side put in front of them, with contributions coming from all corners, with bat and ball alike.

नंदनी शर्मा To राबेया खान OUT!
OUT! HIT WICKET! A double whammy for Nandani Sharma to proceedings, and India Women win by 40 runs, marching into their 10th successive Asia Cup Final. Another back-of-the-hand slower one from Nandani, floating it on middle and leg. Rabeya Khan goes on one knee and is through her slog early. The ball goes over the leg stump and Khan ends up landing the bat on the top of the stumps whilst completing her swing. Bangladesh Women end with 109/7.
Last ball to go. Rabeya Khan is in at number 8.

नंदनी शर्मा To फहिमा खातून OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Nandani Sharma picks up a wicket as well. Slower ball, pitched full and wide outside off. Fahima Khatun gives the charge and gets nowhere near the ball, slicing it towards backward point. Prema Rawat makes no mistake and Nandani brings out a 'shushing' celebration. It was a back-of-the-hand delivery as well.

Oh dear! Richa and Nandani Sharma get into an unpleasant collision. Ghosh's neck gets jerked off Nandani's right shoulder while attempting the catch. Both players are down and clearly in discomfort, and the physio is being called out to take a look at them. But they both are back on their feet eventually and smile it off. But such collisions can turn really ugly. Thankfully, it is nothing serious and we are good to resume.

DROPPED! Oh, my! A nasty collision in the field. Shafali Verma sees Shorna Akter stepping out and pulls the length back. Shorna goes through with the heave and miscues it high towards square leg. The keeper and the fielder at short fine leg both go after it. Richa Ghosh sees Nandani Sharma coming and calls but neither of them backs down. Ghosh's helmet batters into the right shoulder of Nandani and both players are down on the deck. Two taken, and hopefully, both of them are fine.

India will be confident enough that they have taken one step into the finale. Bangladesh Women need 62 runs from 18 balls. Shafali Verma will bowl out. 0/21 in 3 overs so far.

OUT! TIMBER! That's a classic Deepti Sharma dismissal, as she beats the batter in the air and off the deck as well. This is tossed up, on a length and around off. DROPPED AND FOUR! A one-handed attempt from Smriti Mandhana in the deep, and Deepti Sharma feels that should have been taken. Tossed up at the stumps, Shorna Akter goes for the slog sweep and heaves it towards wide long on. Mandhana misjudges the trajectory of the ball and sticks out a right hand, but she had enough time to move further to her right and settle under it. The ball flicks the fingers and goes down, rolling onto the ropes.
The next batter is Sharmin Akhter.

प्रेमा रावत To निगार सुल्ताना OUT!
OUT! LEADING EDGE AND CAUGHT! That, in all honesty, is the game in the kitty for India. Tossed up nicely by Prema, full around off and turning away. Sultana charges down the track, going for the big heave across the line, but a fat leading edge is found and the ball bobbles to the right of Nandani Sharma stationed at short third, who takes a simple catch. Bangladesh Women lose their skipper at the most inopportune time and are reduced to 76/4, needing another 84 runs from 30 balls.

दीप्ति शर्मा To सोभना मोस्तारी OUT!
OUT! CLEANED HER UP! Deepti continues to deliver the goods with the ball and picks up her second wicket. Flat and skiddy, not quite short enough to go back and cut. Sobhana gets caught in two minds, rocking back and dragging her leg out of the way, but the ball skids on after pitching and sneaks through the gap between bat and pad, crashing into the stumps behind her. Drinks Break! Bangladesh Women's 46/2 meets India Women's 59/2 after 10 overs. With the required run rate now swelled to 10.4, it is safe to say that India are well ahead in this game because batting is only going to get tougher as the innings progresses. The Indian spinners have combined together to choke the flow of runs and it will be Sultana who will have to play a true captain's knock to pull this off. Bangladesh still require 104 runs from 60 balls, and need to get a few big overs now. Also, Prema Rawat is brought back on.

OUT! CAUGHT! A fine catch in the deep and Deepti Sharma strikes in her first over. Deepti offers flight, tossing it up on the stumps. Dilara Akter goes for the slog sweep, hitting it aerially and wide of deep mid-wicket. Kranti Gaud runs across quickly to her left and takes a fine catch, cushioning it with a slide and Bangladesh Women lose their second wicket.

FOUR! Hit hard, and hit in the gap as well. Loopy delivery, well wide of the off stump, Dilara Akter stays leg side of the ball, leans across and smacks it wide of sweeper cover for a boundary.
Just 9 runs in the last 3 overs for Bangladesh Women. They need 120 runs from 78 balls, with the asking rate shooting up to 9.15. And to further apply the brakes, Deepti Sharma is brought into the attack, replacing Sree Charani.

एन चरणी To जुएरिया फ़िरदौस OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Almost a collision between the keeper and the bowler, but they both slam the brakes in time, and that is a good catch by Richa Ghosh. Sree Charani offers more flight this time, bowling it fuller on middle and leg. Juairiya Ferdous goes for the slog sweep but miscues it badly. The ball lobs up towards silly mid on and it is Ghosh who scampers quickly and takes it before Charani could get her hands on it.

A huge shout for stumping and the decision is sent upstairs for a review. Pitched slightly fuller and outside off, holding its line. Dilara swings across the line, looking to slog aerially but misses and Richa collects it cleanly behind the stumps before whipping the bails off. The side-on replay shows that Dilara's back leg momentarily got dragged out but she manages to slide it back in before Richa breaks the stumps.
An appeal for stumping from Richa Ghosh and the third umpire is called in. The side-on replay shows that Dilara Akter has just about managed to press that back leg inside the crease before the bails go off. Not Out.
Shafali Verma is now going to roll her arm over, replacing Kranti Gaud in the attack.
