The hosts will be eyeing at least another 150 runs from here, and they still have some batting depth to fall back on. As for India, they were disciplined in the morning, and the key will be to stay at the stumps and make the most of the uneven bounce. It was all pace before lunch, but we are likely to see spin introduced after the break. The battle between Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja, especially with the footmarks in play, promises to be a fascinating one. The second session will commence at 6.10 pm IST (12.40 pm GMT). See you then!
Crawley managed to see through that initial burst but couldn’t kick on. As the ball softened, the sharp lift off the deck lessened, but it kept low often enough to plant seeds of doubt in the batters’ minds. Harry Brook looked to play his natural game and put the pressure back on India but with that approach always comes risk, and it eventually caught up with him. England have two of the ideal men for a recovery job. Yes, Ben Stokes may be short on runs, but he spent valuable time out in the middle during the first innings, which would have boosted his confidence. Joe Root, meanwhile, is coming off a century and remains the key.
SESSION SUMMARY - 24 overs, 96 runs and 4 wickets. An entertaining session of Test cricket, one that belonged to India. England landed a punch or two through Harry Brook, but it didn’t last long. After a slow-burning first three days, the surface came to life this morning and how. There was variable bounce, particularly from the Nursery End where Jasprit Bumrah operated, with Zak Crawley taking a few blows on the gloves. But it was Mohammed Siraj who reaped the rewards, picking up a couple of wickets inside the first hour.

Hello, everyone! Day 4 dawns in this iconic Lord’s Test in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, 2025. There's been a delightful ebb and flow to this match. Just when one side has seemed to take the ascendancy, the other has found a way to punch back. It’s been a stop-start affair, not because of the weather, but due to repeated ball changes with the Dukes losing its firmness and players taking blows that necessitated breaks. Around 7 overs were lost on Day 2, and ten disappeared on Day 3, and seven on the first. And of course, including all the theatre that followed on Saturday evening, which means one whole session was virtually erased. But cricket has been intense and that’s what all want. Well then, this draws an extremely entertaining Day 3 of this Lord's Test to a close. After three days of gruelling, seesawing cricket at the Home of Cricket, the scores stand level, with England just a couple of runs in the lead. And what remains now is a one-innings shootout to decide the fate of this riveting Test match and the series ahead. The margins are razor-thin and the Indians will come out inspired by their new-ball stints in this series and pick a couple of quick wickets come Day 4. England's top two will look to see the first challenging hour off with caution and build on their lead. The absence of Shoaib Bashir, sidelined with a finger injury on his left hand, compounded the challenge. It stripped England of their primary spin option, forcing Joe Root into an extended spell, more out of necessity than tactical nuance. And with all the drama that followed with England coming out to bat, thrown into the spotlight in the dying minutes, managed to navigate the solitary over without any damage. A small win in the larger battle, but one they’ll gladly pocket heading into Day 4.
At 326 for 6, with the deficit still looming, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar snuffed out any whispers of a collapse. Jadeja went on to raise his third consecutive fifty in this series, anchoring the effort, while Sundar quietly made his presence felt with yet another invaluable lower-order knock. He continues to stretch India’s batting resources in the most crucial phases, and this cameo was no different. But again, as has been the case in this match so far, just when another partnership started to flourish, this time, Chris Woakes came back for a fresh, spirited spell and fished out Jadeja with England drilling into the Indian lower order within 6 overs. Woakes had spring in his steps as he created chances on just about every delivery post Jadeja's dismissal and wrapped India on 387, with scores level.
Ben Stokes, as he so often does, turned the tide just when the partnership between Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy was starting to blossom. A wicket out of nowhere, in early doors of the last session, was followed by a tireless spell brimming with intensity. He surely had the batters dancing to his tune, probing away with every delivery. The pitch, meanwhile, began to show its weariness, with the odd ball deviating unexpectedly, and kicking off a bit of uneven bounce, with the slope playing its role as well. England persisted with Joe Root’s spin from one end, but it barely scratched the surface, save for a couple of testing leaves.
The real tectonic shift came with KL Rahul's dismissal, moments after he brought up his second century at Lord’s. With India still 133 runs behind, panic simmered, mix-ups and jittery calls added spice to an already tense contest. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja then dug in, steadying the ship through England’s inconsistent new-ball spell. Archer bowled with searing pace, but the hosts failed to land decisive blows. Pretty much sums up how closely contested this Test series has been so far, with no side ready to concede a single inch.
