Another day, another twist in the WPL. With RCB already through to the playoffs, the other four teams are all locked at 4 points each. However, Mumbai Indians have already played 6 games, whereas everyone else has played 5, which makes things all the more difficult for the reigning champions. Next up, the two other teams locked on 4 points - Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz face-off in Match 14 of the season. Jemimah Rodrigues, the skipper of Delhi Capitals, is also named Player of the Match for her brilliant knock. She said it was a very good game for the team and praised Marizanne Kapp for her excellent spell in the Powerplay. Jemimah highlighted that the opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee laid a strong foundation for the chase. She added that Kapp is very clear with her plans and is constantly striving to improve, and also mentioned that Kapp guided her through the closing overs. Jemimah shared that she gave herself time at the start, stayed calm, and once she was set, scoring became easier due to her clarity at the crease. She felt the team assessed the conditions well and believed anything under 160 would have been a competitive total. Jemimah concluded by saying she has learned a lot from watching how Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur build and pace their innings.

The Presentation ceremony...

One of DC's star performers with the bat, Lizelle Lee, is now down for a chat. Lizelle Lee says that the wicket here isn't an easy one to play on but got away well with the bat. On her stumping, Lee says that it was a brilliant take from the keeper but doesn't want to talk more about it. Mentions that they have good, basic plans with the bat and Jemimah Rodrigues managed to get them over the line. Reckons that there's a lot of stress involved with being captain and feels like the job gets easier if everyone around the skipper is able to do their jobs.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, admitted that her side fell about 20 runs short with the bat. She said the team struggled in the Powerplay with both bat and ball, and things did not go according to plan. She added that injuries before the start of the season forced them to experiment with different opening combinations. Harmanpreet stressed that whoever bats at the top must take responsibility. She praised Vashnavi Sharma for her impressive bowling, which brought them back into the game. Harmanpreet noted that the team has performed well over the past three seasons and continues to work hard, but injuries have been a setback. She concluded by saying that the Mumbai Indians will look to bounce back in the remaining matches.

Mumbai huffed and puffed to a defendable total, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 65 from Nat Sciver-Brunt but their bowlers let them down in the Powerplay. Shabnim Ismail did hold up one end for a couple of overs but the likes of Nicola Carey and Nat Sciver-Brunt leaked boundaries. The debutant, Vaishnavi Sharma, then came in and did a fine job in the middle along with Amanjot Kaur and the duo managed to put on a bit of a squeeze on the scoring rate, ending up with a wicket each. With Carey unable to take further part, MI relied on NSB, who wasn't quite able to find her mark with the ball. MI are now on a three-game losing streak, not what you would associate with the reigning champions. Let's now hear from their skipper...

Needing 155 for the win, the Capitals started brilliantly in the Powerplay. Both Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee racked up the boundaries while the field restrictions were in place and blew the chase wide open. However, once Verma fell, the scoring rate started to decline and the boundaries were hard to come. Lee kept on finding the fence every now and then but had to walk back in what was a very close stumping call. Jemimah Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt then built a steady stand but couldn't quite break the back of the chase and Wolvaardt too got out in unfortunate fashion. Finally, Rodrigues decided to up the ante and scored briskly at the death, notching up a match-winning half-century in the process.

An absolute humdinger of a game, another one in the WPL this season but at the end of it all, Delhi Capitals have managed to exact revenge on Mumbai Indians. DC pick up their second win of the season and are firmly back in the playoff race. A fourth defeat for Mumbai Indians in 6 matches and with just a couple of more league matches remaining for them, their playoff hopes have taken a big dent.

SIX! KAPP HITS THE WINNING BLOW AND TAKES THE CAPITALS HOME WITH A BIGGIE! Back of a length, on off. Kapp picks the bones out of it and smokes it over the deep mid-wicket boundary for a massive hit. Delhi Capitals win by 7 wickets with an over to spare.

FOUR! A valiant attempt from Sanskriti Gupta goes in vain, and Jemimah Rodrigues gets to her FIFTY. Fuller than a length, on off. Rodrigues heaves it along the ground to the left of the deep square leg fielder and finds the ropes, beating the diving Gupta near the ropes. What a knock under pressure this has been from Jemi.

FOUR! CHEEKY AND MIGHTY EFFECTIVE! The DC skipper takes her side closer to the win. A low full toss, just outside off. Rodrigues brings out the reverse sweep and gets it past the short third fielder for a smartly placed boundary. 14 needed off 12 balls.

Oh, that doesn't look good. Sajana Sajeevan has crashed into the hoardings beyond the ropes after that valiant effort and it wasn't a soft landing at all. She seems to have injured her left shoulder and Triveni Vasistha comes on as a replacement fielder. Hopefully, Sajana is fine.

FOUR! NICELY DONE! Flatter arm ball, just outside off. Jemimah Rodrigues stays back and plays it late through the short third region, and it beats the fielder chasing it for a clever boundary. Sajana Sajeevan has banged with the advertising board while trying to stop the ball. She is holding her left shoulder. The physio comes out to check on her.

SIX! JUST OVER THE ROPES! Short of a good length, angled into the middle. Rodrigues shimmies down, connects well on the pull and manages to clear the deep mid-wicket fence for a much needed hit.

Slower and fuller, at the stumps. Jemimah Rodrigues looks to slog it across the line, but gets the inside edge that rolls toward short fine leg for a quick single. Good response from Kapp as she was running to the danger end.

Fuller than a length, outside off. Jemimah Rodrigues looks to drive hard but fails to connect. An appeal for stumping from Rahila Firdous is sent upstairs. The replays show that the foot was grounded when the bails go off and NOT OUT comes on the big screen. DC skipper stays on.

The next batter is Marizanne Kapp. DC need a couple of big hits here to release some pressure.

OUT! RUN OUT! A massive moment in the game! Will this turn the tide in favour of MI? A good length delivery on off. Rodrigues makes room and flat-bats it down the pitch. NSB gets a hand in her follow-through and ricochets it onto the stumps at the bowler's end. Laura Wolvaardt was out of the crease and has to make the long walk back to the pavilion. An unfortunate end for Laura and DC lose their third.

STRATEGIC TIME-OUT! DC have lost momentum over the past few overs and now need 37 off 24 balls. Much will depend on skipper Jemimah Rodrigues and the batters to follow as DC look to lift the tempo and close out the game. MI, meanwhile, have mounted a strong comeback through their spinners and will aim to pile on the pressure, hoping to force a DC stumble.

Two is the call but they won't get it. Shorter in length, Jemimah pulls it in front of square leg. Sanskriti Gupta at deep square leg moves to her left and cuts it off quickly.

Brilliant effort this time from Harmanpreet Kaur, saves a certain boundary. Full and around off, Jemimah Rodrigues drills the cover drive but Kaur dives to her left and parries it behind. The batters get a couple of runs.

A flat ball on off, Wolvaardt smacks it to the left of the bowler and picks up another single. The keeper has a jab at the bowler and asks her to atleast dive and make an effort of stopping the ball.

A dot to end and just 6 runs off it. Full and straight, Rodrigues looks to advance but has to adjust and blocks it back to the bowler. Ismail keeps Jemi on her toes by faking to throw it back at her.

Wolvaardt pre-empts a bit by backing away and Ismail sees it. This is bowled full and angled into the pads. Wolvaardt clips it wide of square leg for a single.

The call is for two and they get it as well. Full-pitched delivery on off, Jemimah Rodrigues plays a lovely cover drive past Harmanpreet Kaur. Amanjot Kaur sprints to her right from sweeper cover and cuts it off.

Shabnim Ismail (3-0-20-0) is back on to finish her spell. There is a big discussion going on between Ismail and Harmanpreet Kaur and Hayley Matthews. Harman is moving the fielders all over the place and finally, Ismail is ready to bowl.

Flatter one, angled into the pads. Rodrigues nudges it through mid-wicket and pinches a single. DC are 92/1 after 12 overs, needed 63 more off 48 balls.

Flighted ball, drifts into middle, Wolvaardt backs away and drives it along the turf to long off for another single.

Full again, at the stumps, Jemimah drives it back to the bowler. Kaur stops it in the followthrough and shows a bit of aggression by throwing the ball back at the batter. Jemi moves out of the way.

FOUR! Excellent placement. Fuller and drifting into the pads, Jemimah Rodrigues clips it away just behind square leg and the ball races away to the fence.

OUT! STUMPED! How big a call is that going to be in the context of the game? Lizelle Lee doesn't seem happy but it seems like a fair decision in the end. Amanjot Kaur slips a full ball down the leg side. Lee is drawn forward but fails to flick. Rahila Firdous does well to move low to her left and collect the ball. She also manages to whip off the bails but Lee quickly turns back and plants the bat inside the crease. It is sent upstairs and Lee does get her bat down in time but it pops up and that is when th bails light up. Lee has to walk back after a good knock of 46 (28).

Is that stumped? The keeper, Rahila Firdous, seems pretty excited and the umpires have sent it upstairs. Lizelle Lee did wander out of her crease but did she manage to get back in time? The third umpire first checks UltraEdge and the ball has comfortably missed the bat. Next, the stumping is checked and the side-on angle shows that this is a close one. The third umpire takes his time to check whether the bails were dislodged before the bat was grounded or not. The camera angle from behind shows that the bat hits the turf a fraction before the bails light up but it then goes up in the air exactly when the bails light up. Also, Lee's foot is on the popping crease but is there any part of it inside the crease? After checking all the angles and all the scenarios, the third umpire makes a decision. OUT comes up on the big screen.

Shafali Verma is a bit too early to shuffle to the off side and Sharma smartly bowls this one quicker. She fires it on leg stump and Verma misses the flick, getting bowled around the legs. Verma departs for 29 (24) and DC are 63/1.

STRATEGIC TIME-OUT! Well, what a blistering start this has been to the run chase. The Capitals have not let a single bad delivery go unpunished and have already racked up 13 boundaries in just 6 overs. Shabnim Ismail bowled a couple of decent overs but everyone else has been off their lengths. MI need a coupleof wickets right after the break to wrestle back some momentum, whereas DC will be looking to build on this brilliant start.
