Muzarabani’s morning magic - The morning session of Day 3 belonged entirely to Blessing Muzarabani. The towering speedster bowled a fiery spell, removing Mahmudul Hasan Joy and the dangerous Mominul Haque in quick succession to shatter the visitors' confidence. A brief 61-run resistance between skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim gave Bangladesh a temporary breathing room, but Nyamhuri returned to clean up the skipper. In a final, devastating blow right at the stroke of Lunch, Muzarabani induced an edge from Mushfiqur to leave Bangladesh gasping at 117/5, still trailing by 153 runs and staring down the barrel of defeat.
A shaky start to the survival mission - With a massive deficit on their shoulders, Bangladesh's second innings was always going to be a brutal test of character. They needed a solid, calming foundation to erase the deficit, but the horror script remained unchanged. Shadman Islam fell cheaply before stumps on Day 2, leaving the visitors limping at 40/1 overnight. As the sun rose on Day 3, the assignment for the Tigers was clear, bat long and survive. However, Zimbabwe’s bowlers smelled blood and were ready to hunt.
Zimbabwe piled on the mountain - If Bangladesh found the conditions unplayable, Zimbabwe showed them how to master African soil. The hosts turned a steady platform into complete domination, piling up a massive 410 runs. Innocent Kaia was the star of the show, converting his overnight score into a magnificent maiden Test century of 140, while Brian Bennett, Craig Ervine, and Wessly Madhevere rubbed salt into the wounds with fluent half-centuries. Bangladesh’s lone warrior was left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who bowled his heart out for a sensational 7/138, but Zimbabwe still walked away with a mountain of a 270-run lead.

It all started with a relentless Zimbabwe pace attack on Day 1. Bangladesh walked right into a storm, getting completely folded for a measly 140 runs after being 113/2 at one stage. ... DAY 3, SESSION 2 ...
The late drama - The pair of Rahim and Shanto settled in nicely until a flash of drama hit late in the session. Rahim survived a dropped catch when batting on 25, and in the very next delivery, Newman castled Shanto's resilience, flattening the middle stump to snap a 61-run stand. With Rahim still fighting hard, there were no panic stations yet for Bangladesh. But Muzarabani strangled him down leg to cap off the session beautifully in his side's favour. Batting hasn't been straightforward on this wicket, but evidently, once the ball goes softer, it tends to settle nicely. However, with half the side gone already, the way ahead is going to get steeper and steeper for Bangladesh as they don't have much batting left after this. The visitors still trail by 153 runs and Zimbabwe would be aiming to get the job done by the final session of the day. Join us for the second session as play is expected to resume at 10.10 am GMT.
Experience steadied the ship - That's when experience took charge. The arrival of Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Hossain Shanto brought instant calm to the middle, even as the scoring rate dipped, with just 47 runs coming in the first hour. But with the first line of attack now out of the way, the pair grew steadily more assured at the crease. And as the shine wore off the ball, batting turned considerably friendlier. Although Mushfiqur Rahim was troubled all through the short stuff from the Zimbabwean pacers, even taking a stinging blow on his left elbow, he continued steadily, looking assured at the crease.
Music of pace and bounce - It was a breathless beginning on the third day. Muzarabani and Evans gave the batters absolutely no room to breathe, with steep bounce and immaculate lengths doing the damage. Muzarabani got the rewards almost instantly as he accounted for the overnight pair of Mominul and Hasan Joy, setting the tone early in this session. From 41/1, Bangladesh slipped down to 46/3 in just about a couple of overs and with two new batters at the crease, they were forced to do the reconstruction once again.
LUNCH, DAY 3 - 21.4 overs, 77 runs, 4 wickets. What an end to a session that had already swung Zimbabwe's way! And with Mushfiqur Rahim falling right on the cusp of lunch, the Chevrons will sense this game could be wrapped up today itself. A test of character - In the dying moments of the day, there was little for Bangladesh to gain. To their credit, though, they did not simply shut up shop and put away the loose balls whenever the opportunity presented itself. Bennett was the aggressor, while Kaia played the perfect foil before going on to bring up a well-deserved maiden Test hundred. Bangladesh found an opening by picking up three wickets inside the first hour of the second session, but any hopes of running through the rest of the batting order were dashed by a 102-run partnership between Craig Ervine and Wessly Madhevere. After Ervine's departure, Madhevere received little support from the tail, but by then Zimbabwe had already built a sizeable cushion and eventually finished with a 270-run lead.
A lone bright spot - With just four runs separating them from parity at the start of the day, Zimbabwe's priority was to see off the opening hour before looking to build on their lead. Bangladesh were desperate for early inroads, but their seamers lacked consistency and failed to exploit the assistance on offer. That largely summed up their bowling effort.
