Earlier, New Zealand's innings ended with 177. The West Indies' bowlers staged a stunning comeback in the second half, undoing the Kiwi top order's strong start. Devon Conway struck form, scoring his 12th T20I fifty, and stitched a 47-run opening stand with Tim Robinson. Rachin Ravindra added 50 runs for the 2nd wicket with Conway, but wickets fell regularly thereafter, with Daryl Mitchell's 41 unable to rescue the innings. Jason Holder and Matthew Forde took two wickets each, while Shamar Springer and Romario Shepherd also chipped in, as the West Indies' pace attack bowled brilliantly to restrict New Zealand.
