A chance to take control - Level at 1-1 with three to play, the five-match series between Namibia and Ireland has become a proper contest. Ireland took the opener by 55 runs, and Namibia hit back with a 31-run win in the second game, so the third ODI at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek could swing the series decisively in favour of the winner. Turning starts into substance - Gerhard Erasmus was the star of Namibia’s win in the previous game, with a career-best unbeaten 156 off 125 balls to take his side to 321/6, and Jan Frylinck added 76 off 90 for support. Apart from those two, no other Namibian batter in the top six has reached fifty. Michael van Lingen and Louren Steenkamp have both got starts without converting them, and converting starts is exactly what separates the good ODI batting sides from the rest. If Namibia are to take this series, the top order will have to give Erasmus more company. Searching for early wickets - Wickets upfront have been missing for the hosts, with none in the first Powerplay in either game, and that has left them playing catch-up. Ruben Trumpelmann and JJ Smit have kept things quiet with the new ball, but breakthroughs have been hard to come by, and the middle-overs bowlers have been left to do the heavy lifting.
