Well then, that's a wrap from the second T20I. England have bagged this three-match T20I series, 2-0 in a commanding fashion, with a game to spare. West Indies, on the other hand, are yet to win a game in this English tour and will aim to end it on a positive note by winning the third and the final T20I. That game will be played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton and the first ball is scheduled to be bowled at 5.30 pm GMT. The victorious captain of England, Harry Brook, is up for a chat with Ian Bishop. He says it’s been an amazing series win and it has been a great start to his captaincy. He says they stuck to their bowling plans and his bowlers didn’t give away much. He mentions that there was a chat in the dressing room about how it’s a matter of 2-3 big overs, which even Windies got towards the end. He mentions they were confident that Windies were 20-30 short and with the kind of batting depth they have, he was confident of his team chasing it down. He tells how Luke Wood taking an early wicket upfront really set the tone for the rest of the game. And he concludes by saying he and his team are very much looking forward to playing the last game.
The captain of West Indies, Shai Hope, says that he personally felt that they were still a few runs short and didn't capitalize enough in the middle overs. Adds that the bowling unit is coming along decently and it is nice to have Akeal Hosein back and they are just finding roles for the bowlers to play. Mentions that the dot-ball percentage needs to decrease as the game is not just about the boundaries and they need to keep the singles and doubles coming along and ends by saying that they will look to end the series on a positive note.
Luke Wood of England is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his fantastic bowling display. He says he has not been in team for year and half and it’s nice to be coming back and making an impact. He says Evin Lewis’s wicket gave him good confidence, for the rest of the game. He mentions that, the Captain trusted the bowling unit, and there was clarity with respect to bowling more slower ones. He says, it’s a good series win and now a couple days off and they would look to make it 3-0.

Earlier in the game, England invited West Indies to bat first. The tourists lost Lewis in the first over, but Shai Hope and Johnson Charles formed a recovery stand to follow. Charles, however, looked scratchy for his 47, but the 90-run stand set up a good base for the middle overs. But, West Indies slipped down from 90/1 to 117/4, which halted their momentum a bit. The late flourish came through quickfire cameos from Powell, Holder, and Shepherd, which helped West Indies to smash 75 runs off the last four overs, also propelling them to a respectable total. For England, Luke Wood was the most successful and economical bowler, with a two-for, while Carse, Bethell, and Adil Rashid snagged one each to their names.
The next three overs, however, were followed by England smashing 49 runs, which again tilted the scales towards the hosts. Those quickfire cameos from Bethell and Banton brought them within touching distance of run a ball, and the chase was made a meal by the incoming batters, also helped by some ordinary bowling.
In the first innings, West Indies lost their momentum in the middle overs as England tightened their grip, but after the halfway mark, with the bat, England knew they couldn’t let the required rate spiral out of control, so Brook and Buttler stepped up with a counterattack, stitching together another solid stand to keep the chase alive. But just when things seemed to be clicking, both fell in quick succession, sending England from a steady 112/2 to a precarious 126/4, shifting the balance of the contest yet again around the 13th over.
Buttler and Duckett seemed unstoppable, building a solid partnership full of intent, until Rovman Powell pulled off an absolute screamer to break their 63-run stand. That moment slowed England down a bit momentarily. Buttler had a slice of luck earlier when he was dropped by Lewis on 43. And by the halfway stage, England did manage to score 87/2. The game, though, was perfectly poised for a thrilling finish.
England had a rocky start, losing Jamie Smith early, much like West Indies. But Jos Buttler, in red-hot form, teamed up with Ben Duckett to hit back hard. Their fearless stroke play with a blend of textbook and audacious shots, kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace. Hence, England had raced to 58/1 after the first six overs, edging slightly ahead of West Indies' 55/1 at the same mark.
Another commanding win for England, which seals this three-match T20I series in their favor! Of course, it wasn't as straightforward as England would have hoped, but a win is a win nevertheless. For West Indies, nothing has gone in their favor since they arrived for the tour of England, as this marks their fifth straight defeat, including a clean sweep in the ODI series earlier. Strikingly, 395 runs were scored on aggregate in this match, but none of the batters crossed the 50-run mark.
